Love's Music (Poetry)
05th May 2019
Too long the singer with no voice
love’s music plays inside
the heart’s theatre spoilt for choice
sends echoes far and wide
For every sinew knows the tune
and trembles word for word
while blood obeys conductor moon
the simple opera heard
by everyone who ever dreamed
and joined the choral throng
to find somehow the lyrics seemed
so strangely their own song
Love sings to all without a sound
the melody runs deep
true passion’s river underground
rolls seawards while we sleep
Such concerts hold no rigid notes
each soul finds harmony
as every hum and whisper floats
and sets the silence free
love’s music plays inside
the heart’s theatre spoilt for choice
sends echoes far and wide
For every sinew knows the tune
and trembles word for word
while blood obeys conductor moon
the simple opera heard
by everyone who ever dreamed
and joined the choral throng
to find somehow the lyrics seemed
so strangely their own song
Love sings to all without a sound
the melody runs deep
true passion’s river underground
rolls seawards while we sleep
Such concerts hold no rigid notes
each soul finds harmony
as every hum and whisper floats
and sets the silence free
