Meltdown (Poetry)
30th March 2020
We know the old computer bug —
the way it worms inside
through any opening or gap
each crack proves way too wide
to keep the infiltrator out
it finds the first way in
its purpose is to sabotage
and ruin everything
It’s nothing that the naked eye
can train itself to spot
invisible it slips on by
and trashes all we’ve got
So now the information’s lost —
the clever code words hacked
the virtual city’s bare as bone
its flimsy fabric sacked
The headless chickens run about
Farmville’s in disarray
‘The virus rules!’ the dying shout —
‘Welcome to Judgement Day!’
the way it worms inside
through any opening or gap
each crack proves way too wide
to keep the infiltrator out
it finds the first way in
its purpose is to sabotage
and ruin everything
It’s nothing that the naked eye
can train itself to spot
invisible it slips on by
and trashes all we’ve got
So now the information’s lost —
the clever code words hacked
the virtual city’s bare as bone
its flimsy fabric sacked
The headless chickens run about
Farmville’s in disarray
‘The virus rules!’ the dying shout —
‘Welcome to Judgement Day!’
