“The senseless, tragic rape of Charles Bukowski’s ghost
by John Martin’s Black Sparrow Press”*
An old traitorous black sparrow
has pecked away the truth
his voice jars false and hollow
falling thin from some high roof
He’s a wannabe of culture
he’s a hanger-on to fame
he’s a pompous half-pint vulture
with no talent and no shame
He has crucified a poet
once the man was safely gone
took his songs and (don’t you know it)
changed the words and carried on ...
Burn those books thus mutilated
he was merely on the make
true retribution comes belated —
call him fraudster — name him fake!
