Nobody heard me groaning
the play’s not funny — it’s boring
not half as amusing as we hoped
I’m not laughing but yawning

I wish I could say something kinder
but, well, this is a flop
and it’s sickening — all this fawning
Please. Do stop

No, I don’t want to pour cold water
on his ego — but it’s boring!
Oh, try not to stare, but look at his wife —
even she’s not laughing. She’s yawning!
