Moonlight Robery (Poetry)
30th July 2025
Some nights I hear you whisper
my name amidst the crowd
the moon leans close to listen
my heartbeat echoes loud
Too late I sense the danger
fantasy’s on fire
dreams unravel stranger
and ridicule desire
You’re not my prince of pleasure
your kisses are not gold
nor pretty words my treasure
love’s legend has grown old
I’ll stop my ears with cotton
the years have romped away
romance has robbed me rotten
yet life has more to pay
my name amidst the crowd
the moon leans close to listen
my heartbeat echoes loud
Too late I sense the danger
fantasy’s on fire
dreams unravel stranger
and ridicule desire
You’re not my prince of pleasure
your kisses are not gold
nor pretty words my treasure
love’s legend has grown old
I’ll stop my ears with cotton
the years have romped away
romance has robbed me rotten
yet life has more to pay
