MS (Or Footloose for the Second Time) (Poetry)
25th June 2017
I’ve shucked off the mantel of “motherhood”
untied the label “married”
escaped each definition’s weight
I have, for too long, carried.
Unfettered now by anything
that offers any clue
to status — some important “job”
I may, or may not, do.
I’ve reapplied the title “MS”
suggesting “fancy-free”
so who I am is undisclosed —
no pigeonhole for me.
untied the label “married”
escaped each definition’s weight
I have, for too long, carried.
Unfettered now by anything
that offers any clue
to status — some important “job”
I may, or may not, do.
I’ve reapplied the title “MS”
suggesting “fancy-free”
so who I am is undisclosed —
no pigeonhole for me.
