Prism (Poetry)

The idea came and spread its light
with irresistible allure
poured its colours rainbow-bright
and just as fleeting changed the more

the angle widened to let through
a further gleam to gauge true size
and shape of fancies from the blue
that dazzle and deceive the eyes

A beam that pierced the mind’s thin glass
to split the spectrum showing all
those vivid dreams which quickly pass
escaping thought’s transparent wall

Inspiration’s arrow shone
sudden as the slanting sun
transforms the spot it touches on
then shadows over and is gone
