Stardust (Poetry)
16th March 2025
I sometimes think I see you in the shapes of night —
the way the shadows form betwixt the dark and light
as though your atoms drift up there, caught in the beams
of stars — the sky a jewelled net for catching dreams.
You’re there tonight — half-glimpsed behind a cloud-strung veil
your spirit calling soft within the wind’s low wail
and no one hears but me, or feels your spirit swim
released from flesh and worldly cares — no failing limbs
to hold you back or anchor you to pain’s dull place
untethered, you’re now free to roam the depths of space
while here below, I’m waiting for a falling star
imagining that trail of dust tells where you are.
the way the shadows form betwixt the dark and light
as though your atoms drift up there, caught in the beams
of stars — the sky a jewelled net for catching dreams.
