No Difference (Poetry)
24th March 2013
No difference now if I wear red
or turquoise green
the world is grey inside my head —
a humdrum dream.
No colour now can change my mood
or lift my heart
no flavour now to any food
no joy in art.
The words now wither on my tongue
no thought can live
with sense and meaning all undone —
not mine to give.
No difference now blue days drift past
bleed into night
I pray this apathy won’t last —
I need to write.
or turquoise green
the world is grey inside my head —
a humdrum dream.
No colour now can change my mood
or lift my heart
no flavour now to any food
no joy in art.
The words now wither on my tongue
no thought can live
with sense and meaning all undone —
not mine to give.
No difference now blue days drift past
bleed into night
I pray this apathy won’t last —
I need to write.
