No Thinking Allowed (Poetry)

Thought crime is surely coming
they’ll have spies about the place
that will monitor rogue thinking
and black list you in disgrace

Name you traitor to your country
your ideas a virtual sin
and that fading dream of freedom
is the one they’ll lock you in

They’ve no use for men of vision
deny options — hence no choice
leaving only one opinion
just the loud dictating voice

Foolish sheep will baa their praises
as to slaughter they all trot
with their vaccination passports
and all common sense forgot

Brains are going out of fashion
barely legal to employ
unless washed of all sedition
in vain efforts to destroy

intellectual confrontation
all the seeds of doubt that spread
when our ‘democratic’ leaders
act like bully-boys instead

So let’s join the freedom party
plan a break-out on the quiet
or stop thinking altogether
and adopt their mindless diet
