Nobody's Business - Two Versions (Poetry)

Amazing just how                                Some things are just too
nosy some people                               embarrassing or
can be asking the                                plain awkward in which
most personal stuff                              case everyone turns
without the slightest                             a blind eye and says

hesitation or                                        ‘None of my business’
attempt to be in                                   except it doesn’t
the least bit subtle                               stop them gossiping
when answers are not                          and telling every
forthcoming then the                            Tom, Dick or Harry

tactic changes to                                 and in great detail
one of knowingness —                         the ‘blind eye’ being
you must have something                     able to give a
to hide — but that’s fine —                   blow by blow account
nod, wink, enough said                         of all that happened

Infuriating                                             This ‘accidental’
as that is, it’s best                                observation is
just to let things lie                               excused in terms like
