Not Really My Type (Poetry)

22nd October 2025
A girls’ night out in
an unfamiliar
part of town we found
ourselves there quite by
chance and searching round

for a lively place
of entertainment
a crowd of young men
passed us so we trailed
along after them

on through a pub door
disco in full swing
the building shaking
pulsing wall and floor
wild with atmosphere

I danced near to him
admired his physique
closer — cheek to cheek
then I caught the glare —
jealous boyfriend there ...

I blushed — an awkward
genuine mistake
simply didn’t think
missed the whole gay vibe
let’s all have a drink!
