Opinion (Poetry)
11th August 2006
Decide between three boxes,
mark one with a cross —
‘Yes’ or ‘No’ or ‘Other’ —
few could give a toss.
Sign the peace petition,
protest like a lamb,
bleat against oppression —
no one gives a damn.
Appeal for human justice,
write letters by the score —
be a freedom-fighter,
wage a paper war.
Accept no one will read them,
(but say just what you think)
Opinion’s down the shredder —
it’s all a waste of ink.
mark one with a cross —
‘Yes’ or ‘No’ or ‘Other’ —
few could give a toss.
Sign the peace petition,
protest like a lamb,
bleat against oppression —
no one gives a damn.
Appeal for human justice,
write letters by the score —
be a freedom-fighter,
wage a paper war.
Accept no one will read them,
(but say just what you think)
Opinion’s down the shredder —
it’s all a waste of ink.
