Phantom (Poetry)
02nd June 2009
You’re the one who stayed unborn —
we’ve kept our secret — sealed the pact
where blood and psyche wind their paths
between us — running on and back.
You’ve never failed me — never grown
into a stranger — perfect child —
your flesh untainted — soul intact —
you’ll stay forever undefiled.
I made you so — carved from a wish
the profile of a faultless son
and nursed you nightly in my arms —
sang soft to you a mother’s song —
a spell to wrap you — hold the thought
imagined to flesh out the void
and now you live — for me at least —
we dreamed each other — darling boy.
we’ve kept our secret — sealed the pact
where blood and psyche wind their paths
between us — running on and back.
You’ve never failed me — never grown
into a stranger — perfect child —
your flesh untainted — soul intact —
you’ll stay forever undefiled.
I made you so — carved from a wish
the profile of a faultless son
and nursed you nightly in my arms —
sang soft to you a mother’s song —
a spell to wrap you — hold the thought
imagined to flesh out the void
and now you live — for me at least —
we dreamed each other — darling boy.
