Praise For The Guru (Poetry)

He pulled it off — that
clever trick his hordes
of faithful fans had
all insisted he
was capable of

Got everybody
thinking he must be
a true genius —
a witty mystic
gathering converts

Undoubtedly he
had his own creed
nourishing ideas
grown raw with longing
pain lived in his songs

Now we have his book
a wish collection
boiled down to snapshot
essays on the truth
thinly veiled as art

Universal praise
washes through the night
he crossed the great lake
and there’s some who’d swear
he walked on water
