Programming (Poetry)

I do what duty tells me to
I follow dot-to-dot
all my conscience asks and use
what energies I’ve got

to get things done — task by task
tick it off the list
and when I fail, eventually
catch up on what I missed

If there’s a point I wish I knew
exactly what it was
I wrestle with the pros and cons
and never win because

I can’t ignore what’s planted deep
the programme’s who I am
there’s no escape — I just go on
the best way that I can
