Questions For The Modern Man (Poetry)

07th October 2012
Are you Aquarius, by any chance?
You have that look — that other-worldly mien
which cultivates the individual’s stance —
free-spirited, aloof, inclined to dream...

Your smile’s a riddle — is it meant for me?
Perhaps it’s merely an excess of charm
spilling — self-sufficient, fancy free —
no need of bimbos bobbing on your arm.

So, why the chat — the playful, come-on tease?
You never follow through — you fail to phone —
I guess it’s bluff — a mental stroke and squeeze —
maybe you’d rather fantasize alone.

What lurks beneath the surface, Modern Man?
You seem afraid to drop the lone wolf mask —
the cool dude act is patently a sham.
I’m kind of hooked, so really have to ask

Where to now? — There’s no place left to go —
we’ve done the idle banter thing to death —
it’s time to level, let some feeling show...
It’s up to you, but I won’t hold my breath.
