Reasons Against Reincarnation (Poetry)

26th February 2012
I cannot live another life
this one has sucked me thin and dry
I have no will to even try
the joy I had is lost.

I cannot swim this sea again
the waves have grown too cold — too high
all around just sea and sky
I’m too far from the coast.

I dreamt of sands — a kinder sun
a beach to wander — a lagoon
a not indifferent walleye moon
to turn my money by.

But luck has turned her chilly back
she never liked me from the start
the day sings winter to my heart
no soul can tell me why.
