Recital (Poetry)
07th May 2026
Poems nest among tall grasses
heartfelt lyrics carved on trees
songs linger where the river swells
sweet ditties haunt the evening breeze
The blackbird clearly knows his opera
for lengthy arias compete
with the pigeons’ coo-coo chorus
echoing from street to street
Nature’s voice is seldom silent
there is gossip everywhere
different languages and rhythms
music floating through the air
Always whispers in the darkness
for the ear that’s cocked to catch
notes thrown high and shrill ascending
a thin symphony of bats
In the narrative of starshine
and the story of the spheres
to the harkening of mountains
as the crooning moon appears
with her scintillating sonnets
dreaming lovers smile in sleep
as words trickle through the treetops
touch those grasses cool and deep
heartfelt lyrics carved on trees
