Rehashing The Past (Poetry)
08th December 2025
I know you from a dream ago
a ghost that tags along
we met a hundred lines before
in someone else’s song
You stole me like some gaudy gem
and held me to the light
full moon lent me cheap glamour while
dark windows squared the night
I am a child of stardust made
and you’re my prince of old
who quested after treasure and
unearthed the dragon’s gold
We’re trapped in our own fictions — live
as figments — nothing more
our future’s variations on
those scripts played out before
Time has tied our destinies
performance sets the rules
we find our marks, obey the cues
and love declares us fools
We are the dream, the fading song
our memories are mist
reality spreads paper-thin
while truth may not exist
a ghost that tags along
we met a hundred lines before
in someone else’s song
You stole me like some gaudy gem
and held me to the light
full moon lent me cheap glamour while
dark windows squared the night
I am a child of stardust made
and you’re my prince of old
who quested after treasure and
unearthed the dragon’s gold
We’re trapped in our own fictions — live
as figments — nothing more
our future’s variations on
those scripts played out before
Time has tied our destinies
performance sets the rules
we find our marks, obey the cues
and love declares us fools
We are the dream, the fading song
our memories are mist
reality spreads paper-thin
while truth may not exist
