Remakes (Poetry)

The same ideas keep popping up
relabelled as their own
whole wardrobes of recycled clothes
identical in tone

They mix and match the style a bit
then turn the contrast down
change perspective back and forth
dilute what’s black to brown

The notion’s not original
but copied more or less
reworked, retouched, stood on its head
in faux designer dress

The next production’s similar
the fabric now well-worn
but used ideas will have to do
until a new one’s born
