Resignation (Poetry)

06th October 2019
Who is there left to touch me now
I’ve gone so deep within
who can know this hollowed heart
or soothe this nerveless skin?

The ache’s too big to fit this life
the hurt yawns measureless
love’s old echo bounces brief
down chasms of distress

Pain goes to ground beneath the wood
seeks out the root at last
at rest in undemanding earth
resigned to all that’s past
