Robot (Poetry)

They gave him a thought
of his own to think
and it made him stop
then they saw him blink

He rolled his eyes
and from deep within
came a grinding sound
and he gave a grin

No one imagined
that he meant any harm
but the idea changed him
it caused some alarm

That one idea
soon led to another
he got so excited
they all ran for cover

He began to laugh
even tried to sing
and he wouldn’t slow down
not for anything

Till circuits all blown
out crackled a spark
as the light in him dimmed
and slowly went dark

They recycled his parts
every nut, bolt and ring
that one thought proved to be
such a dangerous thing
