Romance (Poetry)

20th July 2011
In dreams I’ve lain with thee —
Found joy where Love’s horizon curves and rolls
And wallowed in a summer-lazy bliss
Bright sky our ceiling dipping down to kiss
The sunlit mountains...

Thus passion is set free —
Hearts in hedgerows — leaves flutter their green souls
And high on legend’s turret hosts of flags
Unfurl royal colours. Eagles haunt the crags.
Doves drink from fountains...

This world is ours to hold —
Time locks us in this hour — gives no choice
We drift — enamoured — unaware of Fate
Believing it is real, this fleeting state
Of Euphoria...

The spires of Love gleam gold
And History’s deep chime blends with the voice
That from some valley echoes — faint yet clear
Sings of a maiden lost once held so dear —
Fair Victoria...

Now she is but a shade
Whose sweetness lingers, perfuming the night
Where the pale tower stands, its glassy sheen
Reflecting on the hopes that might have been —
Wishes carved in stone...

Where sunsets never fade
And silver rivers run and roads climb white
To castles wizards conjured from the mist —
Sheer fantasy — Love’s ever-faithful tryst
Dreaming on — alone...
