Rosy-Tinted (Poetry)

13th September 2026
Do you remember me, my love
as I remember you?
Is there some rosy-tinted glass
you’re fond of looking through?
Is there some scrap of memory
you’ve buried in your heart
or did you wipe the image clean
when romance fell apart?

I have loved you almost constantly
these many years between
although there’s been no news of you —
not any trace I’ve seen
I’ve looked for telltale signs and clues
the search continues on
there’s something in me can’t believe
our midnight train has gone

There was a time we travelled light —
a toothbrush and our fare
we ran for cover from the rain
too much in love to care
Which notes went wrong to spoil the song? —
I’d swear we’d perfect pitch
the blind conductor missed his cue
then strings began to twitch ...

It is a mystery, my love
what caused that sudden rift —
it seemed that we had everything
our passion some rare gift
Was I so thoughtless and so vain
I lost the secret key?
You always were the careful one
so heap the blame on me

I’m sleepless in my bed tonight —
these pictures from the past
haunt me with their tender ghosts
their message plain at last
Love was a perfect snow-white bird
that vision still shines on
dream-feathers drift like kisses sent
since our sweet dove has flown
