Seasonal Haiku (Poetry)
14th July 2014
raw lemon skies
I wince and taste
old heartaches
shoreline blues
tides tug back
a deeper kindness
gravestones huddle
snow plays referee
settles for a draw
dry leaves curling
hands fallen in her lap
sleep blankets cold
migrating geese
a metaphor that love has flown
time to move on
sandcastles
every shifting grain alike
resist the first wave
fading beach snaps
her first squealing paddle
the pier now gone
humid nights
breathless with expectation
dark buds unfurl
birds roost
sunset’s amber torching trees
their city all aflame
A sudden deluge
the soaring lark lets go
his flood of notes
Spring gales
pink petal boats
adrift on puddles
I wince and taste
old heartaches
shoreline blues
tides tug back
a deeper kindness
gravestones huddle
snow plays referee
settles for a draw
dry leaves curling
hands fallen in her lap
sleep blankets cold
migrating geese
a metaphor that love has flown
time to move on
sandcastles
every shifting grain alike
resist the first wave
fading beach snaps
her first squealing paddle
the pier now gone
humid nights
breathless with expectation
dark buds unfurl
birds roost
sunset’s amber torching trees
their city all aflame
A sudden deluge
the soaring lark lets go
his flood of notes
Spring gales
pink petal boats
adrift on puddles
