Short Lessons In Living (Poetry)

31st August 2019
If I had no hate in me
I could feel no love
the boat drifts lonely out to sea
then homeward flies the dove

Ice melts in the heat of sun
while fire burns to the bone
the stars extinguish one by one
the planets shake and groan

The whole world shudders at a touch
pretence is all we know
but no one worries over-much
just line up straight to go
