Silent Witness (Poetry)
08th September 2013
The Eye-tree has ten thousand leaves —
each leaf an eye
that peers into the shifting blue
expanse of sky
And each leaf sees ten thousand miles
through time and space
watching as the shadows fall
and light’s displaced
Ten thousand windows on the world —
the tree sees all
and stores such visions deep in rings
beyond recall
The Eye-tree’s silent witness stands
all-knowing — yet
obeys the wisdom at its core —
learns to forget.
each leaf an eye
that peers into the shifting blue
expanse of sky
And each leaf sees ten thousand miles
through time and space
watching as the shadows fall
and light’s displaced
Ten thousand windows on the world —
the tree sees all
and stores such visions deep in rings
beyond recall
The Eye-tree’s silent witness stands
all-knowing — yet
obeys the wisdom at its core —
learns to forget.
