Snowblind (Poetry)
08th December 2025
Overnight, our world was transformed —
full of light — nothing looked the same —
earth stretched pure, an opal sky yawned
dazzling with promise — silence came
hushing frozen tongues, while our hearts
sang through bright streets and city parks.
We were enraptured — couldn’t see
past the glow — magic wrapped us round
in strangeness — its intensity
held us — the effect so profound
we lost ourselves — through this new land
the blissful blind went hand in hand.
Shortlived — this sudden perfection —
romance’s vision wrecked so soon
the sweetness of love’s confection
turned bitter by the afternoon
when all that passion we had felt
grew grey and thin — began to melt.
full of light — nothing looked the same —
earth stretched pure, an opal sky yawned
dazzling with promise — silence came
hushing frozen tongues, while our hearts
sang through bright streets and city parks.
We were enraptured — couldn’t see
past the glow — magic wrapped us round
in strangeness — its intensity
held us — the effect so profound
we lost ourselves — through this new land
the blissful blind went hand in hand.
Shortlived — this sudden perfection —
romance’s vision wrecked so soon
the sweetness of love’s confection
turned bitter by the afternoon
when all that passion we had felt
grew grey and thin — began to melt.
