So Long, Superman (Poetry)

11th August 2006
It never should have happened to a hero -
zapped by Fate's uncaring, random whim -
his dream of flying dashed in that split second
the dumb and blameless horse unseated him.

Ragdolled in a chair, his powers stolen
his super-image grounded for all time
he found another rĂ´le - an inspiration -
another way of rescuing mankind.

He showed by his example there's a reason
for going on and never giving in -
Life's often cruel and even heroes suffer -
the brave accept it's either sink or swim.
