SOS From Cellblock Isolation (Poetry)

13th July 2015
Is there anybody out there ... out there ... out there ?
I’m feeling so alone ... so alone
I’ve been living in a vacuum, a bubble, a womb-world —
some gloomy suffocation-zone.

Can anybody hear me ...
hear me ... hear me ?
Is it any good to shout ?
Words dissolve to silence — they settle so breathless
won’t someone please, oh please, just let me out ?

Would anybody notice ...
or miss me ... or care much
if (somehow) freedom came at last ?
Each day’s a shrinking prison — escape’s a narrow tunnel
stretching hungry for the past.

So, is there anybody out there ...
out there ... out there ? —
Some lost soul whose moon is on the wane —
Do get in touch. We won’t give in — repeat the mantra
“I’m here ... and what is more ... I am still sane.
