Spring In Isolation (Poetry)
05th April 2020
They’re having Spring without us
the birds are doing fine
buds break while no one watches
the leaves unfurl on time
There’s no one there to witness
the greening of the wood
we’re stuck in isolation
cooped up for our own good
Earth goes about its business
it has no need of us
the flowers bloom regardless
with none to fret or fuss
Perhaps it’s all a lesson
to put us in our place
for Nature doesn’t give a fig
about the human race
the birds are doing fine
buds break while no one watches
the leaves unfurl on time
There’s no one there to witness
the greening of the wood
we’re stuck in isolation
cooped up for our own good
Earth goes about its business
it has no need of us
the flowers bloom regardless
with none to fret or fuss
Perhaps it’s all a lesson
to put us in our place
for Nature doesn’t give a fig
about the human race
