Still Looking (Poetry)
06th October 2019
I want to find an angel
I’ve been looking for an age
a holyman with wings
and a kind smile
but the world is full of shysters
who peddle all that’s strange
and rather ugly things —
the odd and vile
I’m on a quest for beauty —
treasure old and new
delicate and truly rare
a joy to love and keep
but what I find is shoddy —
worn so thin it’s see-through
thrown together with no care
plastic — so it’s cheap
I’ve been looking for an age
a holyman with wings
and a kind smile
but the world is full of shysters
who peddle all that’s strange
and rather ugly things —
the odd and vile
I’m on a quest for beauty —
treasure old and new
delicate and truly rare
a joy to love and keep
but what I find is shoddy —
worn so thin it’s see-through
thrown together with no care
plastic — so it’s cheap
