Tell Me (Poetry)

Tell me I am human
tell me I am dumb
treat me like a lady
beat me like a drum

Speak to me in riddles
teach me if you can
the art of being lonely
the tragedy of man

I listen to your sermon
I take the bitter pill
you promised me a poem
I’m waiting for it still

So tell me how you see me
be sure your words ring true
and yet I fear already
I ask too much of you
