That Thing Of Beauty (Poetry)

14th July 2013
                                is the joy forever captured
by the artist’s eye — the camera’s subtle click
stilling the moment — colouring the mood
and every swelled emotion caught as quick
as rainbows in a jar when sunlight’s turned
                                and fractured.

Soft into the ether beauty’s definition’s burned —
her image pale with shadow edged around
for contrast — forming likeness to a name
but more than just a face this icon of an age
unfading the bright smile within the dusty frame —
                                always star-bound.
