The Blossom And The Bee (Poetry)

17th June 2013
Provocative in pink, her silken skirts
ruffled by a playful April breeze
sun-kissed blossom blushes as she flirts
and leans from swaying balconies of trees.

Coquettish in her petticoat appeal
petal-soft and virginal her skin
her frilly perfumed folderols conceal
a garden of delights tucked deep within.

She teases from her tower way up high
her innocence a sweetly potent lure
to every would-be suitor passing by
to linger — sip her delicate liqueur.

A solitary bee drawn to her scent
woos her roughly with his swarthy charms
pursuit of pleasure being his intent
he presses ’til she opens wide her arms

and lets him in to plunder — rob her heart
explore her fleshy secrets as she lies
open — fragrant petals pushed apart
ravished there beneath spectating skies.

Once hunger’s fed, he clumsily withdraws
satisfied — no reason now to stay
this follower of nature’s baser laws
abandons her — the rogue — and flies away.

All passion done, she bathes in tears of rain
her petals bruised and aching. None can tell
what ecstasy she felt — what loss or gain
as deep inside love’s fruit begins to swell.
