The Dress (Poetry)

27th January 2013
All is lace and dazzle —
that white mystery of woven light
tailored to exquisite shape
a liquid fabric stiffened
to the thrill of perfect ice
untouched by sun.

So crisp with purpose
cuffed in purity
stitched slender — buttoned tight
designed with subtle detail —
the romance of curve and drape
ribbons — pearls and rice.

The dress of dreams —
webbed and veiled to catch the moon’s
luminous yet shy appeal —
seamed with shimmering glamour
a wish might cut from magic cloth
a gown for love to wear.
