The Easter Parade (Poetry)

Encouraged by sun
green preparations
for Easter begun
trees costume themselves
with wild creations

Spring fashions each flounce
and every fresh frill
to stunning effect
the air seems in awe
as models hold still

while each leaf is stitched
to April’s design
and shadows fold thin
enhancing the line
as morning sees fit

Long sleevings draped fine
with sweet trims of lace
and button-buds burst
where style finds a space
to pin Nature’s crown —

Wide blossoming hats
all frothy in pink
confetti rains down
as though the trees think
a wedding’s hit town
