The Girl In Two Minds (Poetry)
09th July 2024
Who am I really?
She asked herself that
almost too often
and it wasn’t like
she had the answer
Some days were awesome
she felt goddess-like
her world in order
and running smoothly
no disturbing thought
Then a hurricane
blew in suddenly
and ripped the roof off
life too frightening
she crouched in the dark
Erratic mood swings
exiled family
alienated
her from all her friends
left her to herself
Self-analysis
only goes so far
it’s all theory
sounds loopy — the whole
bipolar idea
She asked herself that
almost too often
and it wasn’t like
she had the answer
Some days were awesome
she felt goddess-like
her world in order
and running smoothly
no disturbing thought
Then a hurricane
blew in suddenly
and ripped the roof off
life too frightening
she crouched in the dark
Erratic mood swings
exiled family
alienated
her from all her friends
left her to herself
Self-analysis
only goes so far
it’s all theory
sounds loopy — the whole
bipolar idea
