The Lighthouse At The End Of The World (Poetry)

05th March 2023
Far off, far out a speck of light
a pinprick winking draws the eye
so small in the vast maw of night
it guides stray souls that wander nigh

A ghost lives in that frozen spire
a man forsaken with no name
he tends the everlasting fire
and seeks redemption in its flame

A lonely marker anchored deep
right at the edge of all we know
it pulses through dark realms of sleep
where life and death both ebb and flow

And there are swimmers in those waves
bound for someplace off the chart
the light spots some — a few it saves
illuminates each trusting heart

On and on the beam sweeps thin
across imagination’s seas
and guards the world’s unknowing rim
where, once beyond, all sorrows cease
