The Moment Of Change (Poetry)
11th August 2024
When did life become
this gruelling trial
so now each day is
simply something I
must tunnel on through?
I recall making
wishes as a child
convinced the future
held such glittering
possibilities
I remember joy
and excitement in
ordinary things
quite happy dreaming
the world’s my oyster
Just when did that change?
Looking back I can’t
pinpoint a dark day
I first was aware
cold winds chilled the air ...
But old hopes have fled
and I am left with
such longing for times
though cloudy ahead
bright promise shone through
this gruelling trial
so now each day is
simply something I
must tunnel on through?
I recall making
wishes as a child
convinced the future
held such glittering
possibilities
I remember joy
and excitement in
ordinary things
quite happy dreaming
the world’s my oyster
Just when did that change?
Looking back I can’t
pinpoint a dark day
I first was aware
cold winds chilled the air ...
But old hopes have fled
and I am left with
such longing for times
though cloudy ahead
bright promise shone through
