The Pity Of It (Poetry)

26th July 2026
It fair breaks the heart
to see the late rose
fell victim to frost
simply bad timing
perfection laid waste

It hurts to look on
and not have a say
when beauty is spoiled
or left to decay
some shrug — look away

The news headlines tell
a whale’s on the beach
they try to rescue
when tides fail to reach
sun-baked dry — he dies

There’s war — we sell guns
there’s famine, disease
biblical flooding
hoardes of refugees.

Compassion-prompted
rich and poor pitch in
but here’s the sad thing —
nothing changes. That’s
the pity of it
