The Presentiment (Poetry)

15th November 2023
He woke one night from dreams of dark despair
He’d seen a plain where once there’d been a town
Not much remained — the view was bleak, near-bare
The once-proud walls by that vain pride brought down
The greed of the developer the tool
That fashioned in blind ignorance the fate
Of every soul who lived there — prince or fool
And stirred the common man to loathe and hate
All those who governed with their banker’s eyes
Set on profit — heedless of the wise
Who warned a revolution’s on its way ...

Now see how the mighty fall!
                                        They’ve had their day
