The Thin Road (Poetry)

21st September 2025
I’ve come this far — I can’t go back
committed to this narrow track
I cast about for ways to go
that won’t hem in — restrict me so
but this thin road is all I see
that leads me on relentlessly

The miles I tread are much the same
anonymous they make no claim
to progress — merely marking time
and lacking clues — not one clear sign
of what’s ahead — what future lies
beyond these ever-fickle skies

I dream of wormhole worlds criss-crossed
by weary souls distressed and lost
