Togetherness Aside (Poetry)
08th December 2025
I met you always on white paper
although never in the flesh
I’ve feasted often on your poems
felt their keen-edged sting of death
I have loved you like a brother
and so-wished you’d been my friend
dream you’re waiting in the ether
writing songs that never end
We have trawled the magic ocean
climbed the mountain — reached the moon
trekked the wastelands of forever
hoping truth would find us soon
We’re both creatures born to sorrow
on the lonely unmapped road
there are few that claim to know us
who would shoulder half our load
We have forged this odd connection
built of words that bridge the years
over river’s cool reflection
worlds will end in floods of tears
although never in the flesh
I’ve feasted often on your poems
felt their keen-edged sting of death
I have loved you like a brother
and so-wished you’d been my friend
dream you’re waiting in the ether
writing songs that never end
We have trawled the magic ocean
climbed the mountain — reached the moon
trekked the wastelands of forever
hoping truth would find us soon
We’re both creatures born to sorrow
on the lonely unmapped road
there are few that claim to know us
who would shoulder half our load
We have forged this odd connection
built of words that bridge the years
over river’s cool reflection
worlds will end in floods of tears
