Voyage To Planet Bowie (Poetry)
11th January 2016
For DB and his fans
The man who fell to earth has gone back home
unreachable by internet or phone
a one-man mission on a tin can cruise
a one-way trip that caught the morning news.
Rock music his last signal beamed afar
it bounces — earth to rocket — star to star
now Ziggy’s in his capsule running free
returning to some brighter galaxy.
He’s left this house of echoes — all those songs
he lived in for a while. But he belongs
to other worlds evolved in deepest space
he’s of a different time — a stranger race...
O Major Tom we’ll always hear your voice
discs spin the way of planets — they’ve no choice
and somewhere in the void Alladin Sane
has claimed himself immortal — beyond pain.
