Wasteful (Poetry)

The man who drops the plastic wrap
destroys the world
with that small act of war our fate
is thus assured

The child who follows mimics him
and throws away
the future’s vision all at sea
while nations play

the fatal game of dumping waste
at Nature’s door
and gambling blind luck’s wind will change
in time before

the bank is broke. The bottle tossed
one careless day
floats back to shore its message clear
there’s Hell to pay
