Way Out (Poetry)
09th September 2012
There is a back way out of here —
a door left open wide —
where glimpses of infinity
haunt the other side
with shifting shapes, half-seen, half-known —
a landscape of lost dreams
shimmering in the fading light,
dissolving inbetween
reality and somewhere else —
Atlantis found again
beyond the far horizon’s line,
released from earthly pain —
imagination knows no walls,
the mountains of the soul
rise unconquered through the mists
and make the body whole...
then, through the portals of the mind,
make good that great escape —
the cripple runs, the blind can see
and sense falls into shape.
a door left open wide —
where glimpses of infinity
haunt the other side
with shifting shapes, half-seen, half-known —
a landscape of lost dreams
shimmering in the fading light,
dissolving inbetween
reality and somewhere else —
Atlantis found again
beyond the far horizon’s line,
released from earthly pain —
imagination knows no walls,
the mountains of the soul
rise unconquered through the mists
and make the body whole...
then, through the portals of the mind,
make good that great escape —
the cripple runs, the blind can see
and sense falls into shape.
