Well Past Repair (Poetry)

The NHS is knackered
it’s lost all sense and sight
but limps along like some old nag
that won’t be ridden right

It really would be kinder
to put the beast to sleep
than hang on grimly while it fails
to earn its basic keep

So why go on pretending
this horse is fit to race?
All bets mean money down the drain
odds on it trails last place

Hands up for full replacement
new management at stud
high time the stable was turfed out
and welcomed in fresh blood
