Why Worry? (Poetry)
26th March 2023
There’s no need to worry
there’s no cause to fret
it might never happen
it’s not happened yet
The odds are a long-shot
far from a sure bet
the omens are fickle
the stars rarely set
The chance is unlikely
so why wait in dread?
when the outcome is doubtful
hope still plods ahead
Anxiety’s pointless
it muddles the brain
those fears spinning wildly
just roll round again
until out of control
and logic’s a mess
the worst is imagined
and heightens the stress
So hang on to reason
though the road may be wet
there’s no sense to worry —
you haven’t slipped yet
there’s no cause to fret
it might never happen
it’s not happened yet
The odds are a long-shot
far from a sure bet
the omens are fickle
the stars rarely set
The chance is unlikely
so why wait in dread?
when the outcome is doubtful
hope still plods ahead
Anxiety’s pointless
it muddles the brain
those fears spinning wildly
just roll round again
until out of control
and logic’s a mess
the worst is imagined
and heightens the stress
So hang on to reason
though the road may be wet
there’s no sense to worry —
you haven’t slipped yet
